I developed a social campaign promoting environmentally friendly lifestyle decisions. Be like Greenie, don’t be Trashie!

Go Greenie! is a campaign to promote everyday environmentally friendly practices. It is centered around two characters– Greenie, who demonstrates exemplary eco-friendly practices, and Trashie, who does the opposite. The goal of the campaign is to encourage the audience to support Greenie’s actions, and to not behave like Trashie.

I started this project by creating moodboard that captured the essence of what type of campaign I wanted to work on. I knew I wanted to incorporate illustrations and a darker color palette. I also wanted the campaign to have a cute, light-hearted, and somewhat humorous vibe.

Each week of the semester, I developed the campaign further, designing characters, posters, merchandise, and even a game. In the future, I’m hoping to explore character animation techniques in order to bring Greenie and Trashie to life!

Learning Takeaways

Working on this campaign taught me how to better cater to a specific audience. Once I had committed to targeting young adults and millennials, every design decision I made took this into consideration. I constantly thought about what aesthetic this demographic would be drawn to, as well as what types of products they would be interested in purchasing. Go Greenie! is a strong campaign because it has both a clear purpose and audience.
